• Introduction of Japanese die cast miniature car toy, Tomica

Skyline is a car that Fuji Seimitsu Kogyo started production in 1957.

Fuji Seimitsu Kogyo changed its company name to Prince Motor Company in 1961 and merged with Nissan Motor in 1966.

In the meantime, the sale of the skyline has been continued, and the new model is being released as one of the Nissan’s flagship models even today.

The above picture is Nissan Skyline 2000 Turbo RS of die cast miniature car toy “Tomica Premium”, which was released by TOMY COMPANY,LTD of Japan on October 15, 2016.

This skyline is the 6th generation skyline called R30 type.

It was called “Newman skyline” because actor Paul Newman served as an image character.

This die cast miniature car toy reproduces the turbo engine-equipped car which was added in 1983.

At that time, detective drama “Western police” was popular in Japan, and specially equipped vehicles (RS-1, RS-2, and RS-3) based on this Skyline 2000 Turbo RS appeared and it became a hot topic.

Skyline 2000 Turbo RS that appeared in 1983, the front mask is different from the former type model and the latter term model.

This die-cast miniature car toy reproduces the former type model used also in “Western police”, and there are front grill consisting of three crosspieces.

The crosspiece type front grill is reproduced by the shape of die-casting and painted in gray color.

Also, in the crosspiece type front grill of the actual Skyline 2000 turbo RS, there were three vertical lines at the center and both ends.

This miniature car toy also perfectly reproduces such fine lines.

Tomica Premium often reproduces headlights with clear resin, and clear resin is also used to the head lights of this die cast miniature car toy.

Combined with the precise reproduced crosspiece type grill, the finish of this miniature car’s front mask is fairly well.

Also, the turn signal lamp and the position lamp under the headlight are painted neatly in orange and silver colors.

In addition, the angular fog lamps on both sides of the number plate are also finished with silver color paint, and the ambience of the sports car at that time has been reproduced excellently.

This miniature car toy expresses a slight bulge at the center of the hood by the shape of die-casting.

In addition, the white “S” sticker on the left side of the hood which is thought to have been prepared as the option of R30 type Skyline at that time is reproduced by printing.

From the side, you can see that this die cast miniature car toy accurately reproduces the lively form of R30 type Skyline.

The gold sticker attached to red and black two-tone color body has been reproduced by printing, and it is very powerful.

The letters of “4 VALVE DOHC” and “RS-TURBO” are precisely reproduced both in position and size.

In addition, the red RS batch behind the front tire is also precisely reproduced by printing.

This die cast miniature car toy has a silver paint for door knobs and pillar parts.

In addition, it seems that the golden aluminum wheels reproduce “Mesh 4” made by ENKEI.

This combination is enhancing the atmosphere of the 1980s sports car very much.

Pseudo suspension which is familiar to sports cars of Tomica, is also set up to this model.

Also, some of Tomica have gimmicks such as opening doors and bonnets.

This die cast miniature car toy of R30 Skyline can open and close doors of both sides.

When opening the door, you can see the interior.

Not only the front bucket seats but also the rear seats are properly painted in red color and it has become a high level finish suitable for Tomica Premium.

Since the door can be opened and closed, there is no side glass, but clear resin is used for side quarter glass.

The rear spoiler of this die cast miniature car toy is accurately reproduced and is painted in black, so its finish is pretty good.

Moreover, the extreme split made by “AD three” which was the maker option of R30 type Skyline of those days was also reproduced and it is painted in black.

Since the clear resin without coloring is used for the rear glass part, the red rear seat is clearly visible.

This die cast miniature car also reproduces the silver rear emblems on both sides of the trunk by printing.

The emblem of “SKYLINE” on the left side is finished to the level that can recognize the letters adequately.

On the other hand, the emblem of “DOHC TURBO RS” on the right side can not recognize accurately because the letters are small, but the finish is pretty good.

Although ordinary Tomica often expresses the rear combination lamp with red color paint, Tomica Premium sometimes uses red clear resin.

Also in this miniature car toy, red clear resin is used for the round type 2-light tail lamp.

Although the finish is pretty good, I think that the actual tail lamp of R30 type Skyline 2000 Turbo RS was a little darker color.

The back lamp and the turn signal lamp part under the tail light are neatly painted in silver and orange colors.

Also, the twin muffler parts including silencer are also painted in silver, it is very impressive.

The scale of this die cast miniature car toy is 1/63, and the actual size is about 71 mm.
