The above picture is Nissan GT-R NISMO 2020 model of die cast miniature car toy “Tomica series”, which was released by TOMY COMPANY,LTD on July 20, 2019 in Japan.

This miniature car is more aggressive style than the regular GT-R because of the NISMO model.

GT-R NISMO 2020 model and GT-R

Tomica is usually sold one by one, but the product called “Gift Series” containing four Tomicas is sometimes released.

The silver die-cast miniature car on the right is one of the “Tomica Gifts glorious GT-R Set” and reproduces the normal Nissan GT-R.

Nissan GT-R adopts the year model system that evolves every year, and it is unknown which year model it is.

The normal GT-R is also a high-impact sports car, but it looks a bit more calmly compared with the latest NISMO 2020 model.

NISSAN GT-R NISMO 2020 model front viewTomica usually finishes headlights with a silver paint.

But this miniature car toy reproduces the headlights with clear resin.

Texture is enhanced by adoption of the clear resin.

In addition, the shape of the front bumper and the powerful grille with the GT-R emblem is reproduced fairly precisely.

The red accent color, symbolizing the NISMO model is reproduced on the bumper part.

Nissan GT-R NISMO 2020 model is equipped with the air duct reminiscent of the GT3 racing car on the front fender.

This miniature car reproduces the shape of the air duct by die-casting.

The air duct part is painted in black to produce the atmosphere of the actual car.

NISSAN GT-R NISMO 2020 model side viewThe normal GT-R of the Gift Series adopts a gimmick that the doors on both sides could be opened and closed.

On the other hand, Tomica of GT-R NISMO 2020 model can not open and close the door, but clear resin is attached to the side glass part.

Since Tomica is originally a toy for children, it may be preferable to have a gimmick.

However, Tomica of GT-R NISMO 2020 model has no gap between the door and the body, and the appearance is overwhelmingly better.

Tomica of GT-R NISMO 2020 model is equipped with a black 4-spoke wheel.

It is completely different in shape from the 9-spoke aluminum wheel made by Rays fitted to the actual GT-R NISMO.

However, it is considerably more sporty than the wheels fitted to the normal GT-R of the Gift Series.

NISSAN GT-R NISMO 2020 model rear viewBoth of miniature cars, the round rear combination lamp is reproduced by red paint.

However, the rear combination lamp of Tomica of the GT-R NISMO 2020 model is more three-dimensional shape and has a very high-quality finish.

It is difficult to recognize because the body color is white, but the silver color NISMO emblem on the side of the left rear combination lamp is reproduced by printing.

In addition, the emblem of NISSAN in the center is also reproduced by printing , but it is finished very precisely.

The powerful rear bumper, including the titanium alloy muffler made by FUJITSUBO which is protruded from the left and right, is reproduced by the shape of die-casting.

The large-sized carbon rear spoiler dedicated to NISMO consists of a separate molded part made of PVC.

Reproducibility of the shape is a decent level, but the difference in material is a little noticeable.

On the other hand, the rear spoiler of the normal GT-R of the Gift Series is integrally molded with the body.

The scale of this die-cast miniature car is 1/62, and the actual size is about 75 mm.

【About actual NISSAN GT-R】

Nissan GT-R is a leading Japanese high-performance 4WD sports car that has been sold since 2007.

The root of GT-R is Skyline GT-R, which was derived from the company’s long-selling model Skyline.

Nissan Skyline GT-R is largely divided into the first phase, which was equipped with 2.0-liter inline six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, and the second phase, which was equipped with 2.6-liter inline six-cylinder twin turbo engine.

[FIRST PHASE NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R 1969-1973]

◆PGC10 TYPE NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R (The 1st generation) 1969-1971

The 1st generation Nissan Skyline GT-R was developed based on the Skyline 2000GT (GC10 type) in those days.

This Skyline GT-R was equipped with the 2.0-liter in-line six cylinder naturally aspirated engine (S20 type) developed based on the engine (GR 8 type) that was installed in the racing car R380 of Prince Motor.

The S20 type engine generated 160 ps / 7000 rpm, 18.0 kgm / 5600 rpm in the high octane specification, and won numerous victories in the race that took place.

The driving method of the first generation Nissan Skyline GT-R was FR (front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout).

◆KPGC110 TYPE NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R (The 2nd generation) 1973

The 2nd generation Nissan Skyline GT-R (KPGC 110 type) was sold as “2000GT-R” based on 2000GT of the 4th generation Skyline (C110 type) that was the 2 door hard top.

It was a FR (Front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout) driven car equipped with S20 type engine like the 1st generation.

This model was produced only 197 units due to the exhaust gas regulation and did not participate in the race.

[SECOND PHASE NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R 1989-2002]

◆R32 TYPE NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R (The 3rd generation) 1989-1994

The 3rd generation Skyline GT-R (R32 type) was revived based on the 8th generation skyline in 1989, 16 years after the end of the production of the predecessor model (KPGC110 type).

R32 Skyline GT-R was equipped with 2.6-liter in-line 6 cylinder ceramics twin turbo engine (RB26DETT type) to match the regulation of “Japan Touringcar Championship (JTC)”.

Also, instead of the FR (Front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout) driving so far, it has become a four-wheel drive vehicle equipped with Atesa E-TS (four-wheel drive system).

◆R33 TYPE NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R (The 4th generation) 1989-1994

The 4th generation Skyline GT-R (R33 type) was on sale in 1995.

Like the predecessor model (R32 type), R33 type had 2.6-liter inline 6 cylinder ceramics twin turbo engine.

However, in order to cope with the weight increase due to upsizing of the body, Nissan improved the engine such as raising the supercharging pressure and reviewing the friction loss.

As a result, the torque of the RB26DETT type engine improved, and it generated 280 PS / 37.5 kgf ・ m.

◆R34 TYPE NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R (The 5th generation) 1999-2002

The 5th generation Skyline GT-R (R34 type) was on sale in 1999.

Compared with the predecessor model (R33 type), the size is 55 mm shorter in the wheel base and 75 mm shorter in the whole length.

The improved RB26DETT engine generated 280 ps / 6800 rpm, 40.0 kgm / 4400 rpm.

R34 type Skyline GT-R was discontinued in 2002 according to the 2000 exhaust emission regulation and became the last Skyline GT-R in the second phase.

[Nissan GT-R (R35 type) 2007-present]

“GT-R concept” was exhibited at the 35th Tokyo Motor Show in 2001, and the development of GT-R was announced.

Although Nissan GT-R was a substantial successor model of Skyline GT-R, development and design were done totally separately from Skyline.

The largest in-house design public offering was held at Nissan, and the final design of the commercial model was decided based on the concept model “GT-R Prototype” exhibited at the 39th Tokyo Motor Show in 2005.

And in 2007, Nissan GT-R was launched as “New dimension multi-performance super car”.

Although Nissan GT-R is a model separated from Skyline, the round four-tail lamp that is the tradition of Skyline GT and the 2 door coupe style that can sit four people are inherited.

R35 Nissan GT-R has the engine in front of the vehicle, the clutch and the transmission etc. in the rear of the vehicle.

Furthermore, in order not to transmit the vibrations generated by the engine and the transmission to each other, the carbon composite propeller shaft was adopted.

This world’s first “Independent Transaxle 4WD” creates optimal driving force distribution for the four tires.

Nissan GT-R adopted short length V6 engine to accommodate the front midship where the center of gravity position is located behind the front axle.

The 3.8-liter V6-cylinder twin turbo engine (VR38DETT type) developed exclusively for GT-R generated 480 PS (353 kW) / 6,400 rpm, 588 N ・ m (60.0 kgf ・ m) / 3,200-5,200 rpm at the time of its release in 2007.

Nissan GT-R adopts “Year model system” that evolves every year.

On April 17 of this year, GT-R 2020 model was announced along with GT-R NISMO 2020 model and the limited-time model “50th Anniversary” commemorating the 50th anniversary of Skyline 2000 GT-R.

The major changes in the appearance of GT-R 2020 model are the use of a newly-designed aluminum forged wheel made by RAYS and the titanium alloy muffler made by FUJITSUBO which shines blue.

In addition, as a new body color,  “Wangan Blue (Gulf Blue)”  which changes color with the angle of light by using special pigments is newly set.

The VR38 type engine of GT-R 2020 model is equipped with a newly developed turbocharger made by IHI, which adopts “Abradable Seal” used for racing turbochargers.

In addition, the GR6 type dual clutch transmission has further evolved.

“R” mode shift schedule is set exclusively for GT-R 2020 model.

On the other hand, the 2020 model of NISSAN GT-R NISMO is further evolved by the adoption of a newly developed turbocharger, carbon ceramic brake, carbon roof and so on.

The newly developed turbocharger has about 20% better response due to the GT3 turbine exclusive for NISMO.

The world’s largest ultra-high performance carbon ceramic brakes combine both good performance and controllability.

Furthermore, by using a carbon material not only on the roof but also on the engine hood and front fender, it  has achieved a weight reduction of approximately 10.5 kg.
