• Introduction of Japanese die cast miniature car toy, Tomica

The second generation Honda NSX is a hybrid sports car consisting of the combination of 3.5-liter V6 DOHC twin turbo engine and three motors and was launched in 2016.

The above picture is NSX of die cast miniature car toy “Tomica”, which was released by TOMY COMPANY,LTD of Japan on December 17, 2016.

Tomica is a die cast miniature car, but since it is originally a toy for children, the texture is not so high.
However, the details have also been reproduced considerably and it do not look like a toy of 450 yen.

Pseudo suspension which is familiar to sports cars of Tomica, is also set up to this model
The body color of this miniature car is “Valencia Red Pearl” that is the image color of actual 2nd generation NSX.
By the way, as Valencia Red Pearl is a special paint color, the selling price of the actual car will be 620,370 yen higher than usual color.
Since the second generation NSX is a supercar that represents Japan, the price of special paint color is also orders of magnitude.
Besides, “Nouvelle Blue Pearl” is 620,370 yen higher and “Source Silver Metallic”, “Casino White Pearl”, “Nord Gray Metallic” are 78,703 yen higher than usual color.

HONDA NSX front view

Honda’s H-mark emblem is printed on the hood of this miniature car toy, and the air intake part is painted in black.
Also, the front grill is also painted in silver.
In addition, beautiful shaped LED headlights that Honda calls “Jewel Eye LED headlight” are well reproduced with silver paint.
This miniature car toy does not use clear resin.
However, by reproducing these details, the front part is finished to a considerable level.

HONDA NSX rear view

Honda’s H-mark emblem is reproduced on the rear bumper as well.
At the tail lamp, the part of stop lamp is painted in red and the part of turn signal lamp and back light is painted in silver.
It is a little pity because of the rough finish compared with the front part.
As the rear glass part is smoke type, it doesn’t see well, but this miniature car toy also reproduces the vertical placement V6 engine.

HONDA NSX side view

The side view of this miniature car toy is very cool as it seems to be the latest sports car.
The tire is particularly wonderful.
The actual 2nd generation NSX has different tire sizes in front and rear, dedicated forged aluminum wheels of 19 inches in front and 20 inches in rear are attached.
This miniature car toy is attached a front wheel of 10 mm and a rear wheel of 11 mm, which reproduces the irregular size as well as the actual car.
The interior, such as a new sense sports seat that supports the trunk, is also reproduced.
But as the side glass is smoked type, it does not see well.

HONDA NSX and NSX typeR

The white car on the right is NSX type R that is the limited version of the 1st generation NSX.
NSX type R was released in 1992.
Therefore, even if I compare using miniature car toys, design is totally different.
The 2nd generation NSX has a design that can’t be defeated by other companies’ super cars, but the first model is also very individual and cool.
It looks light and fast, NSX type R had a weight of only 1230 kg (1780 kg of the 2nd generation NSX) actually.

The scale of this die cast miniature car toy is 1/62 and the actual size is about 70 mm.

◆HONDA NSX (The 1st generation) 1990-2006

Honda NSX (The 1st generation) is 2 seater sports car released in 1990.
It was manufactured and sold without full model change over the long 16 years until the end of January 2006, and was responsible for flagship in Honda.
The initial price of NSX (5MT specification) was 8 million yen (AT specification was 600,000 yen high) and it was the maximum price of Japanese car at the time.

NSX adopted “all aluminum monocoque body” that was for the first time in commercially available cars at that time.
Initially, it was equipped with 3.0-liter V6 DOHC VTEC engine (C30A type) and was changed to 3.2-liter V6 DOHC VTEC engine (C32B type) at a minor change in 1997.
Honda NSX installed this engine behind the driver’s seat and adopted MR (Mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout).

◆HONDA NSX (2nd generation) 2016-present

The second generation Honda NSX is a hybrid sports car consisting of the combination of 3.5-liter V6 DOHC twin turbo engine and three motors and sales began in 2016 (February 27, 2017 in Japan).
The die cast miniature car toy that I introduce on this page is the 2th generation Honda NSX.

V6 twin turbo engine achieves low center of gravity that contributes to movement performance by setting the angle of V bank to 75 degrees which widened to the limit of engine space.
In addition, by throwing into various high power technology such as high compression ratio of 10.0 as turbo engine, it generates 507 PS / 6,500 rpm – 7,500 rpm, 56.1 kgm / 2,000 rpm – 6,000 rpm.

The motor consists of twin motor unit that freely controls the torque of front wheels and direct drive motor that assists the driving of rear wheels.
The motor for front wheels generates 37 PS / 4,000 rpm and the motor for rear wheels generates 48 PS / 3,000rpm.
The assist motor for rear wheels generates output so as to eliminate the turbo lag of engine mainly.
On the other hand, the twin motor unit for front wheels independently controls the negative torque not only when the accelerator is on but also when the accelerator is off.
As a result, the 2nd generation NSX realizes cornering with an unprecedented on-the-rail feeling that is faithful to image of driver as far as possible.

This creative mechanism “SPORT HYBRID SH-AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive)” for NSX will produce brand new performance and feeling of driving.

The selling price of the 2nd generation NSX in Japan is 21,944,445 yen.
The 2nd generation Honda NSX, which aimed at the ability to compete in the world by being equipped with latest technologies, is on a par with sports cars such as the Porsche 911 turbo and the Audi R8 in terms of price.
