Ferrari 512BB was launched in 1976 as a successor model of 365GT4 / BB.

365GTB / 4BB was rival with the Lamborghini Countach LP400 also equipped with the V-type 12-cylinder engine.

The nominal maximum speed of Countach LP400 was 300 km / h.

Meanwhile, the nominal maximum speed of 365GT4 / BB was 302 km / h outweighing LP400.


The minor changed model of 365GT4 / BB to comply with the exhaust gas regulation conducted in 1976 was 512BB.

512BB underwent the minor change in 1981 and shifted to 512BBi equipped with K-Jetronic injection of Bosch.
